Creating and Executing Systems

We all have systems that we create for ourselves. Think about it, we create daily routines and rituals surrounding what our day to day looks like. What time we generally wake up and go to sleep. What time we generally eat. Our life and these systems tend to revolve around the type of work that we do, our children’s schedules if we have them, our romantic and personal relationships and other entities.

The Power of Language

When I sat on the couch of my therapist’s office and said those words out loud, I was overwhelmed by the flood of emotions that immediately followed those words. It was a liberating release. It was me stepping into the true realization that my son was dead and would never come back. It was the feeling of regaining control of how I was feeling and experiencing my loss and taking back that power from grief through the use of language.
